Paternity testingis the most straight forward of all forensic tests. Each individual has 2
copies of each of the forensic markers. One copy
of each of the markers comes from each of the parents. A parent and child
should have exactly 18 markers that match, one at each loci, and 18 markers
that do not match. Those 18 markers that do not match one parent, should
exactly match the other.
Order a Paternity Test $99
You will receive 2 mouth swabs and collection tubes, in a return package,
along with specific instructions on how to collect the samples. Results
include a definitive statement of paternity or non-paternity between the
two subjects, as well as a detailed explanation of the scientific data
backing up the results.
The FBIs standard forensic test in the United States
includes 13 markers. In Europe, 10 markers are used, 8 of which are common
to both the US and Europe along with 2 unique markers. There is a 16th
marker that indicates only the sex of the test subject. These markers are
combined in Applied Biosystems AmpFlSTR Identifiler test kit. Promega
corporation also produces the Powerplex 16 test kit which includes the 13
US markers and sex marker, along with 2 other unique markers. We are
currently using all of these plus a unique marker used commonly in Germany
at Genesis Biolabs (19 markers total). All are modified to work with the
Applied Biosystems 3730xl DNA analyser. These primers are not available in
our Improved test kits & labeled primers sets because we believe Promega
holds the patents on primer sets than include most of these markers.
